The Colorado Authors' Hall of Fame celebrates the accomplishments of living and passed authors who have been connected to Colorado—their words, wisdom, accomplishments and the life-changing impact their works create. The result: their legacy lives on.

Long overdue, it’s time to recognize and honor the works that sage advice and page-turning story telling have brought forth to readers of all ages. Words that entrance, delight, and change the lives of men, women, and children.

The writers and authors who create them have made a difference that transforms how people live, work and play. That value can only be declared as priceless.

THE POWER OF THEIR WORDS...

Authors' words have immense power and impact to change people's lives ... they solve problems, bring awareness to a topic, and provide hours of pleasurable reading.

Let us tell you a story shared by one author in Colorado...

The author was invited to speak about her book in Washington. Waiting for the program to begin, she noticed a woman sitting quietly in the front row—no energy came from her and a blank face. It was impossible not to notice her. She didn’t ask questions, speak up or even participate in an activity the author asked all to do. She just sat there.

After the author completed her talk, several of the attendees stayed to ask additional questions. When she talked with them, she noticed the quiet woman approach the table where her computer rested and tuck a folded piece under the corner. Turning to invite her to join the others, the woman quickly moved toward the exit with no response.

As the author finished, saying goodbye to the others, she picked up her computer and proceeded to unfold the paper...

Today was to be my last day of life.

I had nothing else to do and saw that you were speaking here, so I decided to come and spend my last hours listening to you.

I will be alive tomorrow.

Thank you.

Words and books make a difference. Often, authors never know where they will land and what the effect will be. Words matter—whether they are read silently or heard aloud.
